Date night is often an important part of a relationship and spending quality time together. The pressure of planning a great date night can sometimes weigh heavily on you. With so many different options and preferences of your significant other (S.O.), it’s sometimes hard to get it right. In the current climate, you might find it harder to plan as your choices are limited. Planning date night requires you to get creative, especially as some states are still limiting indoor dining and other activities such as concerts and movie theaters. If you’re struggling with ideas, here’s five to try next time you are planning date night for your S.O.:

  1. Virtual Cooking Class

Since you likely can’t attend cooking classes in person (or in Italy!), research a way to take one online. Many influencers and celebrities took to Instagram over quarantine to do live cooking classes on IGTV. All that was required is that you buy the ingredients beforehand, then tune in to watch and cook along. This could be a fun idea for you and your S.O. – especially if they enjoy cooking. Also, it provides a unique approach to having dinner at home which might be pretty routine at this point. Light some candles, put on good music and enjoy your creation.

  1. Learn a New Game

For the next date night, plan a fun evening around the challenge of learning a new game together. Take poker, for example. It’s a very straightforward game that can be really fun – especially if you host a couples or friends game night at your house in the future. If you don’t know how to play, here’s a great poker beginner’s guide resource that’s super easy to follow. This type of date night is sure to bring you closer together in your relationship and who knows, you might find something the two of you are really good at.

  1. Drive-in Movie

The coronavirus situation has caused most movie theaters to temporarily shut down – which can be sad for date night. Many cities have taken things old school with drive-in movie nights. If your S.O. is into movies, this is a fabulous option that will surprise them. Do your research and figure out where in your area is showing drive-in movies. Next, make sure it’s a movie you know they would want to see. Load up the car with your favorite snacks (popcorn!) and hit the road. Your S.O. is sure to be surprised.

  1. Food Truck Fridays

Food trucks were already extremely prevalent before coronavirus hit. With the ability to be strictly outdoors, wait in line while social distancing paired with delicious food – they are more popular than ever before! Food trucks are a great idea when you just don’t feel like cooking or it’s the end of the week and you’re ready to get out of the house. Make it a routine for you and your S.O. on date night to seek out the best food truck in the area. Whether it’s every Friday and it gives you something to look forward to, or once a month, food trucks are a fun way to try something new for date night.

  1. Explore Your City

With travel restrictions limited, people are spending more time than ever before planted at home. If you live in a big city or even a small town, guaranteed there are areas you haven’t explored yet. “If I only had more free weekends”, is a common thought in the fast-paced world we live in. The silver lining of 2020 is that we’ve all been forced to slow down and take in our surroundings and what’s important. Where is somewhere in your city you haven’t explored yet with your S.O.? Maye it’s the neighboring town, the hike you’ve always wanted to take or even the road trip a few hours to the coast.

Hopefully these ideas will help take the pressure of planning a great date night. The point is there’s no time like the present, so with your S.O. in mind, start planning!
